Spanish motorcyclists give "Penguin award" to the European Commission

The European Commission's Road Safety Unit has been awarded a "pingüino de honor" ('Penguin of Honour') in recognition of its support to research projects and actions improving motorcycling safety.

The 'Golden Penguin' and 'Honour Penguin' awards are given by the Spanish motorcyclists' association 'Club Turismoto' during the motorcyclists' winter concentration organised yearly under the name of Pingüinos (Penguins)

The Head of the Commission's office in Spain, Mr Francisco Fonseca (first from the left on the picture), received the award on behalf of the Commission at the 2014 concentration near the Spanish town of Valladolid on 12 January. This time the event gathered more than 27000 registered participants.

You can see all the awards and some pictures of the event in the following link (in Spanish): http://62.193.193.75/oro/oro.htm

The Commission would like to thank the 'Club Turismoto' for this recognition and for its commitment to road safety.
