This unique event, which takes place as part of the EU-Africa Summit week, and in the context of the EU Year of Youth, brings together key EU and African policy makers along with youth advocates for road safety on both continents to showcase the opportunities and key challenges facing young people in relation to their safety on the roads.
Road crashes are the leading cause of death among young people aged 5-29 worldwide, and the African rate of road deaths is three times that of the EU. The EU is strongly committed to tackling road safety in the EU and to contributing to addressing the challenge globally This online event will give young people the opportunity to present the challenges they face on Africa’s roads, present some practical solutions and have their voice heard on an international stage.
