Category E was a category on its own and it was only valid in combination with another category, in the following way: E + B = BE; E + C = CE; E + D = DE.
This model is no longer valid for driving in Romania, since a mandatory exchange of all licences was imposed in the years 1995 to 2001.
Nevertheless, the licence can be renewed with a new driving licence issued by Romania and has to be recognised by other Member States until 19 January 2033.
