Description
A first European Forum of Road Tunnel Safety Officers was held in Lyon on 4-5 November 2009 and gathered more than 40 Safety Officers from 16 countries. Among other conclusions, it was wished that such forums should be held on a regular basis and that the next forum should be at least partially dedicated to discussing “guidelines” as a complement to the Safety Officers’ tasks and
functions prescribed in the Directive.
This is the reason why the Committee on Operational Safety of Underground Facilities (COSUF) of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) is organising the second European Forum of Road Tunnel Safety Officers, in co-operation with the European Commission and the World Road Association (PIARC).heir tasks to improve road tunnel safety.
